Larry D. Loperfito, Esquire
Attorney Loperfito focuses his practice in the areas of litigation, wills, estates, trusts and probate, municipal law and municipal litigation, zoning law, real estate and corporate.
Education and Experience
Attorney Loperfito earned his Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of Pittsburgh in 1985 and in addition thereto minors in History, English and Administration of Justice. He obtained his Juris Doctor Degree in 1989 from Ohio Northern University, Claude W. Pettit College of Law and in his third year of law school was Chief Justice of Moot Court and further distinguished himself in Moot Court competitions in Ohio and Florida representing the College of Law.

Attorney Loperfito is licensed to practice by the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania and is licensed by the United States District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania.
Work History
Attorney Loperfito began his legal career as an Assistant District Attorney for Westmoreland County from 1989 to 1991. During that period of time, he prosecuted matters ranging from simple misdemeanors to complex felonies. He began his private practice in 1991 as a sole practitioner, joining Timothy J. Geary in the practice of law in 1993 forming the law firm of Geary & Loperfito, LLC.
Professional Memberships
Attorney Loperfito is the Secretary to the Board of the Westmoreland Academy of Trial Lawyers. He is a member of the Western Pennsylvania Trial Lawyers Association and a former member of the Board of Governors from 1998 through 2008. He is also a member of the Westmoreland Bar Association and the Pennsylvania Bar Association, serving on the Municipal Law Committee and the Civil Law Committee.
Community Activities
Attorney Loperfito is a former member to the Advisory Board of the Cardinal Maida Academy in Vandergrift and a former special advisor to the Bishop of the Diocese of Greensburg, Strategic Planning Committee. Attorney Loperfito was a board member to the Westmoreland County Industrial Development Authority from 2003 to 2007 and Mock Trial advisor to the Kiski Area School District from 1991 to 2008. Attorney Loperfito is a founding member of the Vandergrift Festa Italiana, Inc. and provides pro bono legal advice to the board.
Municipal Solicitorships
Attorney Loperfito is the General Solicitor for the Borough of Vandergrift since 2004 and the Associate General Solicitor to North Apollo Borough from 2004 to present. From 1998 to 2004, Attorney Loperfito was the General Solicitor to North Apollo Borough. He has been the General Solicitor for the Zoning Hearing Board of Allegheny Township since 1998 and has held the same role for the Gilpin Township Zoning Hearing Board since 2002. He serves as Associate Solicitor to the Kiskiminetas Township Board of Supervisors since 1996 and the Kiski Valley Water Pollution Control Authority since 1997.
Professional Accomplishments
Attorney Loperfito has tried multiple civil and criminal trials to verdict. He has engaged in national litigation against a Fortune 500 company and successfully defended a local corporation in national mediation in Indianapolis, Indiana. His trial resume stretches from criminal prosecution and criminal defense early in his career to complex construction litigation in 2009. Attorney Loperfito attains heightened Continuing Legal Education accreditation in estate planning through the Canon Financial Institute. Attorney Loperfito continues to represent clients from throughout Western Pennsylvania in business development, corporate and real estate development and complex lease negotiation matters. In addition, he has been called upon by the courts of Armstrong and Westmoreland Counties to act in the capacity of a Master to hear complex support and divorce cases and to render findings of evidence to the judges of the Courts of Common Pleas. Attorney Loperfito has argued before the Commonwealth Court of Pennsylvania on complex zoning issues.
Personal
Attorney Loperfito was born and raised in Vandergrift and he makes his home in the Borough of Vandergrift with his wife, Carrie and daughter, Alexandra. He is a second generation business owner in the Borough. His father, Nick Loperfito, owned Nick’s Shoe Service for 43 years prior to his retirement in 1989. He and his father have a combined 62 years of business ownership in the Alle-Kiski Valley.
